Thanks for your honesty . Really sorry to hear about Maura. I lost my partner Heavenli when she was aged 30 to suicide in a psych hospital. We met in hospital both of us sectioned for long periods . I like you was worried about posting any personal stuff on this platform but in end have put out the first two chapters of my memoir called 'I Only See Strangers' about the long term consequences of social isolation and exclusion as a podcast with text/drawing. I set the book at the week long inquest into Heavenli's death (she is called Dolly in book as I changed the names to protect her identity)
Kate... I experienced much of what you wrote about during my twenties. I know the fugue state well. As I was reading, I thought, she experiencing post traumatic growth too. I think healing can take a lifetime and we can experience PTSD and growth from/through it at the same time. You're write is gorgeous. I'm going to subscribe.

I have been on disability since 18, and I pet sit on the side very part-time. I am 39, never finished college, and grew up in psych wards. I had a lot of ECT and lived in several residential facilities. My last hospitalization was 11 years ago. I am batshit mentally ill. You are amongst friends, Kate. ❤️ You are not alone. Thank you for being brave and sharing your stories and life with us. My world is brighter knowing that I am not alone— that you are here too.
This breaks my heart. On top of all the suffering, the suicide attempt, the actual suicide of Maura, to hear the brokenness of your dad when he realized…
Kate, you are a continuous work of art. Keep breathing, keep fighting, keep loving. I wait for these posts. I try not to bother you, because I know that you will post when you can (either here or on Insta). I hope in posting less, you are off line more. It’s so easy to get caught up in the pretend world we are all living in (in social media).
Continue to take care of yourself and work through what is needed. We are always here for you. Enjoy your pups and the daddy, the changing leaves, the crunch when walking.
