Josie is a chief resident in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. When she is not empowering the next generation of doctors and saving lives, she can be found running, biking, or skiing up mountains with her husband Ed and most recently, keeping her son — my absolutely perfect nephew, Teddy, alive.
More than all those incredible things, Josie is my sister and best friend. Although she is honestly three years my junior, she is older than me in all the ways. My illness forced her into adulthood at age 13 when she would wake me each morning, coax me out of bed, and get me to school. Josie’s life has been one of remarkable accomplishment both professionally and athletically but what stands out to me is her love. What stands out to me is that she always showed up and held space for me, hospitalized, psychotic, socially inappropriate, or otherwise.
